James Projects

Originally trained as a cabinet maker, I developed as a workshop based furniture designer/maker and then moved on to contract furniture project management.  My own preference is for the clean lines of Modernism which accentuate the best qualities of the materials used.

Over the years I've worked with some well known names in furniture design - including Rupert Williamson, Matthew Hilton, Jasper Morrison and Azumi - collaborating on design detailing and prototyping.  As a Project Manager I have prioritised communication and planning with all parties involved so that everyone has a clear picture of what's happening and what to expect.  I appreciate the often complex demands of large projects and the need to work well with the various different professionals involved.

Now working freelance, I can offer both a commission service for private customers looking for bespoke one-off pieces of furniture and project management services for the contract industry.

Based near Sheffield, I'm happy to work with clients across the UK.

Why the scallop shell?

The scallop shell, a form I particularly like, is the emblem of pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela.  Santiago is one of the Spanish forms of the name James.
